Okay, last week we completed Chapter 1 of The Giver. You guys did a great job participating during the reading and completing the chapter comprehension questions. Now, let's review a few things...

I think it is crazy and odd that they don't have animals in the community, because in our community we have people take their pets for car rides even walks along the road. So for this to be a part of there life living without animals is very strange.
ReplyDeleteGary, you're absolutely right! In our society, animals in the household are pretty much standard. It is odd they don't have animals as pets in Jonas' community, but do you think it is even more peculiar that they don't even know what animals are? They only know them as names of stuffed animals.
DeleteWell I would have to say I agree with you Mrs. Rachael, the reason being is because in our household the parent will buy the kids stuffed animals until age 7 or 6. Now the kids will though name the stuffed animal but will not necessarily buy a pet until the kids are bigger so yes it is strange that the community of Jonas doesn't name pets because they don't even have them.

yeah its odd like those poor kids that don't have nothing to eat an they starve the death so bring meat to the poor so they can eat we have food so bring them food too.
Hunter, you were only required to answer 1 question, but thank you for answering all 3 of them! You are right, it was odd that the fighter jet flew over the community. Typically they only saw cargo plans fly above the community but they landed in a designated area to drop off food and supplies.
DeleteYou are also correct, they didn't have phones in this community. However, what makes you think this was "the old days"? Maybe it's our future and all technology has been relinquished?
I'm not sure what your comparison to knowing animals to starving children is...

I think that its very odd that they don't have any pets at all. I think that a pet can utilize relaxation in the house hold. Because in my house we have 2 dogs 3 cats and about 1 million chickens.
